Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "T. D. Chollar, Cortland"
Thomas Chollar worked in Cortland, New York with Joseph Darby from 1839-1849 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 71).
This beauty sports an Early Ovoid Form, Large Pottery Stamp with Generous Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Plant and Capacity Number. Stands 10 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. An X-shaped ping to the left of the decoration (closeup), and some staining from use. No chips, cracks, or restoration.
