Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped twice by "T. Reed."
This is the stamp of Thomas Reed who worked in Newport, Ohio in Tuscarawas County, and later in Newcomerstown, Ohio in the 1850's-1880's (Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 107).
Dating around 1860, this beauty sports the Pottery Stamp Twice-- once upright and one upside down. Measures 9" tall and 9" across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 1/2" chip on the rim in the back. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A 3" drying/firing line from the rim inside in the making (interior picture).
