Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "T. Harrington, Lyons."
Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports a Semi-Ovoid Form, Strong Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand 3 Capacity Number, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Tulip. The tulip sports three base leaves, a dotted bud, and a blossom with eight petals. Bright and shiny cobalt as was typical of Lyons stoneware. Stands 16 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A minor 1/2" surface line on the spout and some staining from use. That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
