Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made by "T. F. Reppert, Successor to Jas. Hamilton & Company, Greensboro, Pa."
Thomas Reppert made pottery solo in Greensboro from 1884-1890 and capitolized on the fame of his predecessor, James Hamilton (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 157-159).
This beauty features a Wavy Stripe at the Top and a Broad Straight Stripe at the Bottom that Frame the Company Advertising Surrounding a Tobacco Leaf and Geometric Design. The stencil is crisp and complete. The darker cobalt of the decoration nicely complements the light gray glaze. Stands 11 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some faint surface craze lines from age. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Slightly convex on the bottom in the making.
