Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Miniature Scratch that reads, "Centennial,  Aug't 16, 1877."

 

This is the work of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery in Bennington, Vermont from 1861-1881. They made these jugs for the Centennial of the Revolutionary War Battle of Bennington, Vermont on August 16, 1877.

 

This beauty sports Incised Script Writing.  Stands 3 1/4" Tall.

 

Very Good Condition.  A 3/16" colored flake on the top of the spout on the left side, and three 1/4" chips on the bottom at the edge where tripod marks were made in the making.   No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
