Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early Semi-Ovoid Jar attributed to John and James Miller of Strasburg, Virginia (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pp. 441-443).
Circa 1835, this beauty features a Rounded Rim, Semi-Ovoid Form, Tab Handles, and a Gorgeous Floral Garland in Bold Cobalt Encircling the Center. The cobalt could not be more attractive! Stands 11 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip on one handle, two chips on the other handle (3/8", 1/2"), and three chips on the base edge (1/4" to 1/2"). Two sliver chips on the rim in the making (3/4", 1 1/4"), and a 1/4" stone ping. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
