Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful decorated 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Dating about 1840, this beauty features Tooled Rounded Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and Four Brushed Cobalt Tulips Around the Middle. The tulips alternate moving up and down. Bright cobalt on a light gray glaze. Stands 8 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 2" vertical hairline near the base wrapping under 3" (closeup). Otherwise, as made. Slightly wavy on top in the making.
