Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Sleepy Eye Stoneware Butter Crock.
It was made by the Weir Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois (1899-1905). This was made for the Old Sleepy Eye Milling Company of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.
This beauty features a Profile of Old Sleepy Eye in Profile with His Name Below on One Side, and his Village with Someone Cooking Outside on the Other Side. All the details are sharp and crisp and the cobalt highlights done carefully. Measures 4 3/4" tall and 6 1/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. An 1/8" nibble inside the rim and one on the base edge. That's it! No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Slightly out of round in the making.
