Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Miniature Blue and White Stoneware Match Safe and Striker. 
 
Dating to early 20th century, this beauty reads, "Matches- Scratch My Bottom." The inside holds the matches and the striker is on the bottom. Great diffused blue coloring. Stands only 3 1/4" to the top of the hanger. 
 
This item has the same form as a hanging salt crock for the kitchen. I have seen one other of these novelty items before and it is not found in my blue and white reference books. 
 
Excellent Condition. A flat 1/4" chip on the underside in the back.  Otherwise, as made.
