    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "P. Hermann".

     

    This is the stamp of Peter Hermann who made pottery on Eager Street in Baltimore from 1850-1872 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 98).  

     

    This beauty features the Crock Form (uncommon for this maker), Pottery Stamp, and Three Freehand Cobalt Leaves on Each Side.  Measures 13 1/4" tall and 11 1/2" wide. 

     

    Very Good Condition.  Four small chips inside (1/8" to 3/4") and outside the rim (1/4" to 1/2'), a narrow 1/2" chip on each handle, a 1 1/2" chip on the bottom edge, and a tight 3" hairline at the base the wraps under 2" (closeup).  No stains or restoration.
