Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "S. Hart, Fulton."
This is the stamp of Samuel Hart who potted in Fulton, New York with this stamp from 1840-1876 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Swipe, Freehand Capacity Number "3" riding a Tornado, and a Bird with Dotted Breast also riding a Tornado. This style of bird was a signature decoration for this potter. Bold cobalt! Measures 9 3/4" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. A shallow 1/2" chip inside the rim, 2 1/2" hairline from the rim in front of the right handle, and some staining from use. No base chips, cracks, or restoration. A stone ping on the front bottom.
