    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Porter & Fraser, West Troy, N.Y."

     

    This is the work of Nathan Porter and George Fraser who worked together in West Troy from 1846 to 1863 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).

     

    This beauty features the Preserve Jar Form, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Chocolate Brown Albany Slip Glaze.  Stands 8 1/4" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  Two pinhead-size nibbles on the inner seating ring where a lid would sit.  Otherwise as made.
