Item 1126
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by the "Ottman Bro's & Co., Fort Edward, N.Y."
This is the stamp of William and Gilbert Ottman who ran the company from 1872-1892 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 68).
This beauty sports a clear pottery stamp with cobalt wash, and a Freehand Cobalt Bird on a Branch Decoration in Bright Cobalt. The cobalt could not be better. Whoever mixed the cobalt the day this jug was decorated must have stayed at a Holiday Inn. Meaures 14 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1/8" nibble on the right side of the spout back by the handle, and a narrow 1" chip on the heel in the back. That's it! No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Exceptionally clean glaze. Kiln furniture mark above the bird in the making.
