Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "N. White, Utica."
This is the mark of Noah White who established his pottery in Utica, N.Y. in 1838 and ran it until 1849. It continued to run until 1907 under his sons and his grandsons. (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
Circa 1845, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip. The tulip rises from ground cover with one leaf, tendril and a blossom with six petals. Stands 12" tall.
Very Good Condition. A minor 1" horizontal ping line at the base on the left side (closeup) and some stain runs from use. No spout chips hairlines, cracks, or restoration. The chip under the spout is in the making.
