Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful early 2 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "N. Clark & Co., Lyons."
This is the work of Nathan Clark who ran the pottery in Athens, New York and a satellite pottery in Lyons, New York from 1822 to 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 66, 73).
This beauty sports an Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Capacity Number and a Blossom Dangling from Two Leaves. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some glaze wear around the very middle from use. Otherwise, as made! Three stone pings in the making.
