Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful early 2 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "N. Clark & Co., Lyons."
 
This is the work of Nathan Clark who ran the pottery in Athens, New York and a satellite pottery in Lyons, New York from 1822 to 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 66, 73).
 
This beauty sports an Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp, and a Brushed Cobalt Capacity Number and Leaf Decoration.  Good color and contrast. Stands 11 1/2" tall.
 
Good Condition.  A 1/4" chip inside the rim and some light staining near the bottom.  The only real issue is a U-shaped piece of the rim in the back has been out and reglued (closeups).  Otherwise, no base chips, hairlines, or cracks.
