Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Handsome 2 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "N. Clark & Co., Lyons."
This is the work of Nathan Clark who ran the pottery in Athens, New York and a satellite pottery in Lyons, New York from 1822 to 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 66, 73).
This beauty sports an Early Ovoid Form, Thick Tooled Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt "2" Capacity Number. Stands 10 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor wear on the inner lid-seating ring. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Shallow recesses on each side in the making.
