Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this impressive 3 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and Stamped by "N. A. White & Son, Utica, N.Y."
This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles who ran the Whites of Utica family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Orchid with Two Leaves, a Blossom, and Seven Buds. A combination of slip cup and brush work was used to make the decoration. Gorgeous cobalt blue throughout. Measures 10 1/4" tall and 11 1/2" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. A 3/8" chip on the rim and some staining from use. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
