Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Majolica Covered Cake Plate  
 
The manufacturing mark indicates that it was made in England on March 14, 1873.  
 
This beauty features a Japanese influence with the Design Centering on Decorated Japanese Fans interspersed with Apple Blossoms, Butterflies, Dragonflies, Egrets, and Coy Fish.  A raised dot background in green hosts the multicolored embossed decoration.  The base measures 11 1/4" diameter and the cover is 9 1/2" tall.  
 
It has been in my wife's family since its original purchase. 
 
Excellent Condition.  The cover is as made.  No damage of any kind.  The handle has a couple in-the-making lines that are glazed over (closeup).  The base has wear on the inner edge of the seating ring and minor nibbles and three small chips (1/8"- 1/4") on the outer edge of the seating ring.  No outer edge chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
