Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "M. Woodruff, Cortland."
This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Large Freehand Brushed Cobalt Tulip that Covers the Entire Front! The tulip has two long leaves and a blossom with four petals in shiny cobalt. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/2" flake inside the spout. That's it! No outer spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A kiln touch in the right of the decoration in the making.
