Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "M. Woodruff & Co., Cortland."
This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports a Larger Size, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Two Brushed Cobalt Tulips with Elaborate Intertwined Stems on the Front. Dark and shiny cobalt. Measures 11 3/4" tall and 12 1/4" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Some waterglass staining inside, three small flakes under the left handle (less than 1/4" each), and four small and light stains. No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
