Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped "Cortland."
 
This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).  
 
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, "2" Capacity Number, and a Large Freehand Brushed Cobalt Floral that Covers the Entire Front!  The floral sports two dotted leaves at the base and a lot of "straight line" leaves up the stem, as well as four blossoms.  Light gray glaze for maximum contrast with the pretty cobalt.  Stands 10 3/4" tall.  
 
Very Good Condition.  Minor nibbles and three 3/8" chips inside the rim, a 3/4" chip outside the rim, and a few glaze flakes on the front lower left (closeup).  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
