Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Bright 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped "Cortland."
 
This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).  
 
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Large Freehand Cobalt Star Flower that Covers the Entire Front!  The blossom sports four leaves separated by inward-pointing arrows with a three dot center.  Strong, bright, and shiny cobalt befitting a "star."  Stands 10 3/4" tall.  
 
Very Good Condition.   A 1/4" chip on the spout, a 1" chip on the back bottom, and some small glaze flakes on the front bottom (closeup).  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
