Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 1 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made in and stamped for "Lyons." 
 
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
 
This beauty a Small Size, Clear Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Two Freehand "1" Capacity Numbers Flanking a Brushed Cobalt Tulip.  The tulip sports five leaves and a blossom with seven petals.  Additional cobalt around the handle terminals. Bright and shiny cobalt as was typical of Lyons stoneware.  Stands 9 3/4" tall.   
 
Without exaggeration, this jar has some of the prettiest cobalt I have ever seen on any piece of stoneware.  It is truly the best!
 
Excellent Condition.  Two minor nibbles side by side on the inner lid-seating ring, and a 3/16" glaze flake on the right handle.  That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
