Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made in and stamped with "Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Freehand "2" Capacity Number on each side of the Decoration, and Two Large Brushed Cobalt Tulips. The tulips sprout from a double stem with four leaves, and each blossom has eight petals. Measures 8 3/4" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A single 1/8" flake at the base and some scattered light staining from use. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
