Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous 6 3/4" Wax Sealer Canning Jar.
The decoration indicates that this is the work of Alexander and William Boughner, sons of Daniel Boughner, who ran their father's pottery in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1852 to 1864 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 151-155).
Dating about 1860, this beauty features a Small 6 3/4" Size, Wax Sealer Form, Light Gray Clay first used in Greensboro from a glacial deposit of superior clay found on the banks of the Monongehela River, and Brushed Cobalt "Tiger Stripes."
Good Condition. A minor nibble inside the rim and chips around the outside of the rim as shown. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
