Item 11365
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Preserve Jar made in and stamped "Lyons."
This jar is most likely the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports a Tooled Rim and Shoulders, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent at the Terminal, the Pottery Stamp "Lyons" with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Capacity Numbe, Tornado, and Garland. Stands 9" tall.
I have not seen this configuration of decoration on a Lyons Jar before.
Good Condition. Two small chips inside the rim (1/8", 1/4"), a chip outside the rim by the right handle (1/2"), a line in the bottom of one handle terminal on the right side, and a chip on the bottom of the left side (1/2"). No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
