Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this sweet 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar made in and stamped for "Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty a Clear Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, the Freehand "1" Capacity Number, and Two Brushed Cobalt Tulips! Bright and shiny cobalt as was typical of Lyons stoneware. What is surprising is how much decoration is added to such a small jar. Stnds 9 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/2" chip behind the left handle and a minor 1/8" nibble on the right handle. That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
