Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Cute Little 1 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jar made in and stamped "Lyons."

This is likely the work of Nathan Clark who ran the pottery in Athens, New York and a satellite pottery in Lyons, New York from 1822 to 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 66, 73).

This beauty sports an Early Ovoid Form, Thick Tooled Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip with 2 Dotted Leaves, a Blossom with Dotted Center, and Additional Leaves on Top. Stands 9 1/2" tall.

Very Good Condition.  Two small chips in the inner lid seating ring (1/8", 1/4"), a narrow flat 1/2" chip inside the rim, a 1/2" chip on the back at the bottom, and two vertical surface lines in the back at the bottom (1", 1 1/2"- closeup). No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A hotter spot on the right side in the making.
