Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "L. Norton, Bennington." 
 
This is the mark of Luman Norton who worked the family pottery from 1828 to 1833 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 42). 
 
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Garland in Bright Cobalt Blue. Stands 15" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  Two 1/4" chips on the spout, a couple minor 1/8" nibbles on the base, and some very light staining.  No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
