Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Cream Pot made and stamped by "L. Norton, Bennington."
This is the mark of Luman Norton who worked the family pottery in Bennington, Vermont from 1828 to 1833 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 42).
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Tall Rim, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Garland in Bright Cobalt Blue. Additional cobalt accent on the handle terminals. Measures 10 1/2" tall and 8 3/4" wide across the top.
Good Condition. Residual water glass staining inside and traces outside, small chips around the rim inside and out, and a 1/4" chip at the base. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
