Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "John Bell, Waynesboro."
John Bell made pottery in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania from 1840-1880 (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, 106-162).
This beauty features a Large Squared Tooled Rim with a Groove for Ease of Tying a Cover Over it, Exuberant Handles with Deep Grooves, Clear Pottery Stamp, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip on Each Side Executed in Dark Cobalt and Featuring Dotted Petals. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/2" chip on the rim above one handle and two chips on the underside at the edge (1/4", 3/4"). That's it! No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
