Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous 4 Gallon Stoneware Churn made and stamped by "J. Fisher, Lyons, N.Y."

 

This is the work of Jacob Fisher who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1872-1902 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).

 

This beauty features the Tall Churn Form with Tooled Rim and Shoulder, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand Capacity Number, and a Large Double Tulip That Fills the Entire Front.  The decoration is 9" from top to bottom!  The stems of the floral are created with a slip cup and the leaves and blossom with a brush in a manner reminiscent of the Burger pottery in Rochester.  Stands 16 3/4" tall.  

 

Good Condition.   Two chips on the rim (3/8", 1 3/4"), a faint hairline from the rim to the right handle, a faint Y-shaped craze line on the front (closeup),and some light scattered staining.  No inner rim or base chips, cracks, or restoration.
