Item 13134

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "J. Ziegler."

John B. Ziegler and Charles Eckhart founded the first pottery in the Nebraska Territory in 1859 called the Dakota City Pottery.  John also ran a pottery in Bellevue, Nebraska in the 1860's.

Only one marked example of the Dakota City Pottery exists (Nebraska Historical Society collection), so I cannot compare the stamp on this jug to determine just which pottery this jug was made in.
