Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "J. Mantell, Penn Yan."
This is the work of James Mantell who potted in Penn Yan, New York from 1856-1876 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 72).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Beehive Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip Blossom. The tulip has six petals in bright cobalt. Stands 13" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some small, light scattered stains on the right side. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
