Item 11351
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jar with Tulips.
The jar's form and decoration make it easy to attribute to David Parr who made stoneware in Richmond, Virginia in the 1860's and 1870's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 102).
This beauty features a Thick and Finely Tooled Rim with a Groove for Tying a Waxed Paper or Cloth Over the Top, and Brushed Cobalt Sideways Tulip on Each Side. The decoration is painted in broad strokes in rich cobalt. Additional cobalt accents at the handle terminals. Stands 14" tall.
Excellent Condition. A single 1/2" chip at the rim, chips along the edge of the left handle, and some surface wear from use. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A 3/4" clay flip on front bottom and a narrow kiln touch on the back in the making.
