Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
 
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
 
This beauty features the Oval Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand "4" Capacity Number, and an Outstanding Double Floral.  Two fancy blossoms with accent marks galore are poised on three broad leaves.  One blossom has a center "trumpet."  Measures 11 1/4" tall and 11 3/4" wide across the top.
 
Excellent Condition. A couple minor stain runs in the back.  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
