Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
This beauty features the Oval Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand "3" Capacity Number, and a Daisy Created with a Slip Cup. The daisy has 4 striped leaves and a blossom with swirl center and 8 stripes petals. Measures 10" tall and 11" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip on the rim. That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Two surface drying/firing lines inside in the making (closeups).
