Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Flower created with a Slip Cup. The flower has 2 fern-like leaves and a triangular blossom with rounded edges that encases the 2 capacity number. Dark cobalt. Measures 9" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. A 1" chip on the rim in the back, a 4" vertical surface-only line below the chip, and overall light staining from use. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
