Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "I. Seymour, Troy."
This is the work of the pottery of Israel Seymour in Troy, New York. He worked from at least 1816 to 1852. This mark was used between 1830 and 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).
This beauty sports a Smaller Size, Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Tulip. Measures 9 1/2" tall and 7 3/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1/4" flake inside and one outside of the rim in the back. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Exceptionally clean glaze.
