  • Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Stoneware 11 1/4" Crock Lid made and embossed Hubbell & Chesebro, Geddes, N.Y."

     

    This is the mark of Charles E. Hubbell and Dennison Chesebro who worked together in Geddes (Syracuse) New York from 1867-1887 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 70).

     

    Dating around 1880, this beauty features the Company Advertising in Raised Letters Around the Top.  Embossed "III" for 3 Gallons.  Measures 11 1/4" in diameter and fits in a crock with an opening at least 9 1/4".  

     

    Very Good Condition.  A 3/8" chip on the underside of the knob, two chips on the top edge (7/8" each), and a half-dozen chips on the sides of the seating ring on the underside (1/8" to 1/2").  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
