Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA."

 

This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).

 

Circa 1880, this beauty features the Company Advertising in an Arch Surrounding a Bird in Flight and Framed by Tulips at the Top and Leaves at the Bottom. Not a common stencil for this maker. The stencil is crisp and dark too!  Stands 8" tall.

 

Excellent Condition. A 3/4" chip on underside at the edge and traces of white paint on the underside.  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
