Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Little 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "F. B. Norton & Co., Worcester, Mass."
This is the mark of Franklin Norton and Frederick Hancock during the period of 1858 to 1876 ("The F. B. Norton Pottery: Stoneware of Every Description." Worcester Historical Museum, 1980-1981).
This beauty features a Small Size, Semi-Squared Rim, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Bright Brushed Cobalt Stylized Floral. This was one of Norton's signature decorations and is typically found with gorgeous cobalt like this crock exhibits. It really pops! Measures 9 1/4" tall and 9 3/4" wide across the top.
Good Condition. Six chips inside the rim (1/8" to 1"), roughness on the back of the left handle and a 1/4" flake on the right handle, a 2" chip on the back bottom, and a tight vertical hairline in the middle from the left of the decoration to the right of the decoration (closeup). No outer rim chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
