Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made for "H. W. O'Brien & Co., 122 Seneca St., Buffalo, N.Y."
It was made and stamped by "J. Fisher, Lyons, N.Y." who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1872-1902 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
Dating around 1880, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp and Four Lines of Freehand Cobalt Script Advertising. All the cobalt is rich and shiny and neatly layed out on the front for maximum display. Stands 13 7/8" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip on the back of the spout on the left side and a 1/4" chip on the base tip of the handle. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A faint surface firing line around the base of the handle and salt drip on the front in the making.
