Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "G. Apley & Co., Ithaca, N.Y."
 
This is the work of Griswold Apley who ran the pottery in Ithaca from 1860-1862 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 72).
 
This beauty features a Large Tall Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Two Huge Brushed Cobalt Tulips on the Front.  The two tulips stems emerge from plentiful leaves and each blossom has six petals.   The cobalt is so bold you will need sunglasses!  Stands 14 1/2" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  Three small chips on the front of the spout, and a faint firing line on the left side where the jug was slightly indented during the making (closeup).  No base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.   Exceptionally clean glaze. 
 
As you know, this stamp had a short run and examples are uncommon.  This is a great one.
