Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Fanciful Bird Figural Made and Signed by the Noted Potter, Everette Busbee.
Everette Busbee (1943-2020) was a Renaissance man with degrees in English, zoology, art, and ceramics. He was most active in making pottery in the mid-to-late 1980's. He is known for wood-fired stoneware and low-fired earthenware. His pottery is found in both simple earth tones and in brightly colored pieces inspired by Spanish pottery of the Renaissance. His pottery is found in the New Orleans Museum of Art; Gardiner Museum, Toronto; Scripps College, Claremont, CA; Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Logan, UT; San Angelo Museum of Fine Art, TX; and the Kamm Teapot Foundation, Statesville, NC.

This teapot recently emerged from a very long time in storage. It is a Fanciful Version of a Korean Bird Figural from the Goryeo Dynasty (918 to 1392). Busbee spent many years teaching English in South Korea and drew inspiration from its pottery. This creation bears a handle and is covered with dragonflies. Variegated glaze. It is signed on the bottom by the potter. Measures 12" wide and 11" tall.
