Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Sweet Little 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug with Parrot on a Plume made and stamped by "F. B. Norton & Co., Worcester, Mass."
This is the mark of Frank Norton and Frederick Hancock who operated the pottery in Worcester using this stamp from 1858-1877 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 52-53).
This beauty features a Small Size, Semi-Squared Spout, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Cute Little Parrot on a Plume Decoration. This was one of Norton's signature decorations and is typically found with gorgeous cobalt like this jug exhibits. The artist has adjusted the parrot design to fit this little jug. Stands 11" tall.
Excellent Condition. An 1/8" nibble on the right side of the spout. Otherwise, as made! Stoneware ping on the left side in the making.
