Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Cream Pot made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton, Bennington, VT."
This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 44)
This beauty sports a Thick Rim, Straight Neck, Bulbous Body, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Stylized Floral Bouquet in Brilliant Cobalt Executed with a Slip Cup. Lots of dots and plenty of blue! Measures 10 3/4" tall and 8" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Chips inside the rim halfway around, two chips outside the rim in the back (1/2", 1"), a 2" vertical surface craze line below the left handle, a few light scattered stains, and some wear on the cobalt. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
