Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "E. A. Montell, Olean, N.Y."
This is the mark of Edwin A. Montell who ran the pottery in Olean from 1869 to 1874 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 73.
This beauty features a Tooled Rim with Attention Made for a Deep Groove to Tie a Covering Over the Top, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip with 5 Leaves and a Blossom with 7 Petals. Measures 10" tall and 11" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A couple minor 1/8" nibbles inside the rim, and a couple very small, light stains from use. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
