Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Elaborate Mug made for "Dr. Swett's Original Root Beer."  
 
George Swett started selling this product in the 1840's.  It was promoted as a beverage with medicinal benefit.  It was particularly popular in the 1890's through the 1920's.  A mug like this could be found at soda fountains of the period.  
 
This beauty features Dr. Swett on the front with a Cartouche with a Cherib on each side.  Rounded Borders frame the decoration and a most intricate footer completes the look.  Stands 5 3/4" tall.
